The Hotel

Hotel Eggersberg
Eggersberg Castle is a typical example of a Renaissance Hofmark, the smallest jurisdictionmof the country at that time. There is no denying that the castle is an impressive sight with its 100 windows, 50 m in length and 25 m in breadth. The castle and the service buildings have a roof area of more then 2,000 m2, which is enough to make the present-day owner shiver. The Renaissance building is adorned with two stepped gables and a total of three typical corner towers that are topped with an onion dome. There has never been a forth tower, because instead the stables had been built in the castle courtyard. The house was built by the jurist Adam Jocher von Egersperg in 1604 and became the property of Dr.iur.utr. Robert F.E. Weigand in 1962.
With much effort and love he transformed the almost ruinous and empty former Hofmark into a small

with 13 double rooms/suites and 4 single rooms with mostly antique furniture. The room rates include a large breakfast buffet incl. coffee, tea and juice. The comfortably furnished rooms with view of the original Danube valley invite you to relax and dream.

What else has the team at Eggersberg Castle to offer ?

Very much! You are welcome to ask:

You are looking for the perfect place for a conference, meeting, corporate event, wedding or simply a relaxing holiday? At Eggersberg Castle you are sure to have a memorable time in a very special atmosphere high above the Altmühltal valley.
You are a creative and artistic person? You would like to surprise your guests with your own stage play? Feel free to use the "Kornspeichertheater", our very own theatre hall below the castle's roof truss with 99 seats.
Or are you more interested in giving your own piano concert? Show your talent at our original Blüthner piano from the de Bassus family, which won a gold medal in Paris in 1894.
You would like to arrange for a family reunion?
Or are you looking to host a discreet board meeting? Our hotel is the ideal venue for you.
You would enjoy being the lord or lady of the castle for a few days? Surprise your family, guests or colleagues. You can rent the whole castle for your exclusive use. Let's talk about it - it is a worthwhile experience!
You would like to give a small reception? How about an exquisite wine tasting and a complementing selection of cheese in our degustation cellar, the ancient oubliette of the Hofmark.
Would you like to listen to the music of parforce horn players at your event? It is our pleasure to offer you advice and arrange for a performance; during winter months in the stables or the ancestral portrait gallery and in summer in the castle courtyard.

If you want to experience something special, the team at Eggersberg will arrange a Renaissance Banquet for you in the former stables, in the evening accentuated by the crackling of fragrant beech wood in the open fireplace.

Or would you prefer to have the Renaissance Banquet under a white marquee in the castle courtyard? Just as you like!
Or do you favour something more hearty and traditionally Bavarian? How about some brass band music in the indoor riding arena? No problem for us.
You would like to show your works of fine art or hold an auction for valuable silverware, beautiful jewellery or antique hunting weapons? Let's talk about it!
An open-air concert for traditional Irish folk music, Klezmer music or Gypsy Jazz? We are up for it. Or do you prefer baroque or renaissance music? For example the works of the famous composer Simon Mayr ? The choice is yours!
By the way: Upon request it is possible to arrange for a tour of the grounds, the house and the museum led by a family member. That way you and your guests gain a genuine insight into the history of the castle. Please feel free to ask for a quotation.
Make use of the various areas of Eggersberg Castle to arrange your event. The park, vaulted cellar, theatre hall, ancestral portrait gallery and castle courtyard are at your disposal, as well as the stables and the grounds with the ruins of the ancient castle. And not to forget the riding areas...
